STERIS’s VHP technology for biological decontamination has been in use for nearly two decades in sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing processing, clean room applications, and medical device/equipment sterilization.
VHP, as controlled by STERIS proprietary equipment, is a non-condensing vapour. It is environmentally friendly and leaves no harmful residues; any VHP remaining after decontamination is readily transformed into oxygen and water.
VHP is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a sterilant, which is defined as “a substance that destroys or eliminates all forms of microbial life in the inanimate environment, including all forms of vegetative bacteria, bacterial spores, fungi, fungal spores and viruses.”
